Fort Schanskop

One of the four Pretoria Forts, it was designed by engineers Otto Albert Adolph von Dewitz and Heinrich C. Werner, together with the Dutch architect Christian Kunz. Completed in 1897, it formed part of the Government’s plan to provide safety for the capital city. There is a scale model replica of the Trek Monument (a monument in Tanzania that commemorates the first Afrikaners to settle there after the Anglo Boer War) and the fort is a Provincial Heritage site.
